Code Name: FR

Welcome to the FR Dev Blog!

What is "FR", one might ask, and why does it deserve a dev blog?  For the first part of that question, "FR" is the code name I am using for an ongoing game project that I am developing, and have been for some time.  As to whether or not it deserves a dev blog, well, that I shall leave up to the reader to determine, but I hope that it shall provide some insight into the hows and whys of the project for those who are interested in such things.

Since this is a project that I work on in my spare time (it's not my day job), progress does tend to be on the slow side, so there is no set posting schedule for the blog.  My plan is to write a post when I feel I have something worth talking about or some substantial progress that I want to share.  How often that is remains to be seen.

But really, what is FR?

I suppose saying that it's a code name for a project doesn't really serve to say much about what that project actually is.  While I will save a more full account of the project for the next post, for now it will serve to say that FR is an RPG in the style of the sort of RPG one might have seen on the SNES, back in the day.  It is not meant to be limited to what the SNES is technically capable of, just something in that style - so, a retro-style console RPG, basically.

The project is being developed using the Godot game engine (I will likely write a future post on my thoughts and experiences with Godot), targeted at PCs.

For the next post, I will get into some more of the details and share some more screenshots.
